A driver holding a provisional licence was cited for speeding on four separate occasions over a 12-day period, with two instances involving speeds greater than 110mph. Damiloa Isreal Agbaje, of Foleshill Road, Coventry, was recorded driving a white Mercedes at 115mph and 111mph on the M6 near Coventry, despite possessing only a provisional licence, magistrates were informed. During the same timeframe, Agbaje was also detected travelling at 71mph and 68mph in a 50mph zone on the A45 in Ryton-on-Dunsmore, Warwickshire. The 30-year-old was summoned to appear at Leamington Spa Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, where he admitted to the speeding offences, which occurred between April 7 and April 19 this year. Agbaje received a £400 fine, an order to pay a victim surcharge of £160, an 18-month driving disqualification, and 24 penalty points on his licence. Hannah Smith, lead prosecutor for Warwickshire Police, characterized him as an inexperienced driver who displayed “no respect for the laws of the road”. She added that his disqualification was vital for both his own safety and the safety of other road users.
