A plan has been submitted for a significant retail establishment and community allotments to be located on a site in the eastern sector of Inverness. The household goods retailer Home Bargains is projected to operate the 3,252 sq-metre shop, garden centre, and café near Smithton. An additional 4,900 sq-metres of land at the same location would be allocated for community-managed allotments. The proposal is slated to be presented to Highland Council’s south planning applications committee next week, with planning officials having advised councillors to grant approval. This proposed development is situated adjacent to an area that has seen substantial residential construction over the past 10 years. These construction projects include Culloden West.
