A proposal has been submitted that could lead to the construction of numerous additional residences adjacent to a significant housing development, pending approval. Specifically, Bellway Homes has filed plans for 149 dwellings to be situated alongside the planned Seaham Garden Village in County Durham. The existing development already holds authorization for as many as 1,500 homes, alongside provisions for a health and wellbeing village, a primary educational institution, community allotments, and retail outlets. Bellway stated that this “relatively small-scale extension” is intended to bolster the “sustainability of the current and future planned development.” Documents submitted for planning review to Durham County Council indicate a variety of residences ranging from two to five bedrooms, with 22 units designated for affordable housing. Should the plans gain approval, existing farm structures on the parcel of land would be razed, as reported by the Local Democracy Reporting Service. Previously this year, it was confirmed that 750 affordable residences are slated for construction at Seaham Garden Village through a collaboration involving Karbon Homes and Esh Construction. The overall estate is progressing through various construction phases, and the initial affordable homes are anticipated to be completed shortly.
