A hospice dedicated to the care of individuals with life-limiting conditions is providing an opportunity to dedicate a light in remembrance of those who have passed away. The yearly Lights of Love campaign, hosted by Primrose Hospice in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, will run until January 3. In exchange for a donation, lights, along with the names of loved ones, will be displayed on 25ft (7.6m) Christmas trees situated in both Bromsgrove and Redditch. A hospice spokesperson commented that each light “represents a life loved and will remain lit throughout the festive period.” A Lights of Love celebration is scheduled to take place at the hospice on Saturday, from 15:00 to 16:30 GMT. The event will feature live musical performances from a choir and readings delivered by staff and families. Kelly Wetherall, the campaign organiser, explained that grief has “no time length,” citing an instance where one person has dedicated a light to the campaign for the past 17 years. She stated, “We facilitate them to remember their loved ones at Christmas.” Wetherall added, “You can’t buy them a present anymore but this is something really tangible you can do.” Each dedication will additionally be featured on an online memorial page, collectively honouring those who have died. Ms Wetherall confirmed that dedications for the campaign will be accepted until December 16.
