An electricity outage affected 184 properties situated near the site of a significant fire. The conflagration occurred at a disused structure adjacent to West Moor Farm, within the South Hetton vicinity of County Durham, during the early hours of Monday evening. The County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service received a call around 17:00 GMT and issued a caution regarding a “build-up of traffic” in the locality. Northern Powergrid stated that it had disconnected the electricity supply “in line with safety protocols,” and the power had been reinstated to the affected properties by 22:00 GMT. According to a spokesperson for the fire service, teams from Seaham, Peterlee, and Spennymoor responded to the incident location, remaining there until 21:20 GMT.
