Portsmouth defender Connor Ogilvie believes the team is now understanding the demands of the Championship, having scored two goals in the league this season. Following their promotion from League One last season, Portsmouth did not secure a win in their initial nine matches. However, as they prepare for Wednesday’s match against Millwall, they aim to achieve consecutive victories for the first time this season. Speaking to BBC Solent, Ogilvie stated, “I think we’re adapting to the Championship – it was a tough start but I think we’re getting there now.” He added, “We didn’t want the gap (at the bottom) to get bigger and we’re clawing it back and we need to keep doing what we’re doing on the front foot and being aggressive.” The former Gillingham full-back, who is the club’s joint-second top scorer with two goals this season, expressed satisfaction with the team’s current game approach. Ogilvie commented, “We’re much better on the front foot – just sitting in and waiting for the opposition to score is like a slow death.” He further explained, “We’re not used to losing games and we’ve dealt with that as a group and it’s been good in training and we’re starting to see that on a game day.” Prior to the upcoming midweek fixtures, Portsmouth occupies the second-to-last position in the Championship standings, trailing safety by four points.
