Portadown, currently positioned fourth in the Irish Premiership table, suffered a 2-1 defeat against Linfield at Windsor Park. Following the match, Portadown manager Niall Currie expressed regret over “a couple of minutes of madness” early in the second half, which he stated cost his team the game. Linfield secured their victory with two goals shortly after the interval, both scored by substitute Chris McKee. Paul McElroy managed to score a late goal for the Ports. Currie conveyed his dissatisfaction with how these goals were conceded, especially given his team’s strong performance in the first half against David Healy’s squad. Speaking to BBC Sport NI, Currie stated: “A couple of minutes of madness, second half we switched off for two minutes didn’t track runners and it has hurt us today.” He further added, “First half we were really solid, there was nothing in the game and other than those two minutes we were a real match for Linfield.” Despite his disappointment regarding their inability to secure a point, Currie commended his players’ effort and approach. He remarked: “I’m frustrated but I’m not dejected in any way and I’m proud of the players. We left everything out there and we went out on our shield.” Post navigation Vitor Pereira’s Temperament and ‘Extraordinary Heart’ Discussed Everton Fans Express Desire for Managerial Change Amidst Performance Concerns
