Police have indicated that a man and a woman observed at a central London Tube station during the time a man was killed could be crucial witnesses. The British Transport Police (BTP) stated that the two individuals “may have critical information which could assist the ongoing investigation” into the assault on Sam Winter, which occurred at 21:30 BST on August 22 outside Southwark Tube station. They appealed for the pair, or anyone who recognized them, to make contact, while emphasizing that neither is suspected of criminal activity. Mr. Winter, 28, passed away in hospital two days subsequent to the attack. His family conveyed their profound grief, describing themselves as “devastated” by the loss of a “very much-loved son, brother, grandson, cousin, nephew and friend.” Rakeem Miles, 23, of East Street, Southwark, has been formally charged with murder. Temporary Detective Sergeant Tony Gittins, from the British Transport Police, commented: “We are releasing these images of two people thought to be witnesses in a murder investigation. “I would like to stress these people are not suspected of any criminal activity but they may have important information that will help our investigation.“If this is you, or you know anyone pictured, please text 61016 or call 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 772 of 22 August.” Listen to the best of BBC Radio London on Sounds and follow BBC London on Facebook, X and Instagram.
