Law enforcement officials have issued a renewed appeal for public assistance, aiming to bring to justice those responsible for the death of a grandmother, two years after the incident. Jacqueline Rutter, aged 53, sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the chest at her residence in Moreton, Wirral, on 30 October 2022. Merseyside Police suspect that two or three individuals participated in the assault. Although eight suspects have been apprehended, no charges have been filed. Mrs. Rutter’s family expressed their incomprehension regarding how anyone could take the life of their “defenceless” relative. The shooting occurred at approximately 01:00 GMT within her home on Meadowbrook Road. Investigators believe a black Vauxhall Insignia, observed in the vicinity between 00:45 and 01:15 GMT, played a role in the event. Detective Chief Inspector Steve McGrath, who is overseeing the inquiry, stated: “We believe at least two or three people were involved in this incident and we will not stop until we find them.” He further urged: “If you are close to any of the people who were responsible for this appalling incident, please search your conscience and come forward with what you know so that Jacqueline’s family can finally find peace and justice.” Authorities have indicated their desire to speak with anyone who observed the vehicle near Mrs. Rutter’s home or on the adjacent Birkenhead Road. Officers have also requested any relevant dashcam, CCTV, or doorbell camera footage.
