Law enforcement has disseminated photographs of an individual sought in connection with an assault in east London, an incident that resulted in the victim sustaining life-altering injuries. Tom Savage, aged 36, suffered 19 stab wounds from a screwdriver in Stratford’s Mirabelle Gardens on August 19, an attack that occurred as he was walking his dog. Since the incident, he has experienced difficulties with walking and vision. Surveillance camera footage depicts the suspect’s most recent known location, disembarking an Elizabeth line service at Whitechapel station. Detective Sergeant Simon Wheeler of the Metropolitan Police stated, “We continue to investigate this horrific assault and are urgently appealing to the public to help.” He further added, “We are in regular contact with the victim and are examining every avenue of opportunity to find the person responsible and bring him to justice.” The unprovoked nature of the assault caused Mr. Savage to lose his senses of taste and smell entirely, as well as sensation in certain areas of his body. Mr. Savage recounted attempting to flee prior to experiencing “a smack in the back of my head and from that point on I don’t remember feeling any pain from the whole thing – I felt numb.” Mr. Savage’s final recollection before regaining consciousness in a hospital trauma unit was of paramedics removing his jeans inside an ambulance. Currently, he is continuing his recuperation at his residence. Medical professionals have informed Mr. Savage that a full recovery from his injuries could extend for as long as two years.
