Police have identified a woman who died following a collision in Derbyshire. Tracey Meek was operating a Vauxhall Corsa when it was involved in an incident with a Land Rover Freelander on the B5023, situated between Idridgehay and Wirksworth. The crash occurred shortly before 09:45 GMT on Tuesday. Derbyshire Police confirmed that the 44-year-old woman passed away at the scene. The driver of the Land Rover, a woman in her 40s, was taken into custody on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains with the police. A male passenger also travelling in the Corsa sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital, where he continues to receive medical attention. In a statement released by the police, Ms Meek’s family expressed their profound sorrow: “We are absolutely devastated at the news of Tracey’s death.” They added: “She was a kind, caring and loving person who has been taken from us far too soon and we would respectfully ask for privacy at this time.” The police force has issued an appeal for any witnesses or individuals with dashcam footage to come forward.
