Police have identified the man who died after being struck by a vehicle in Nottingham as Cain Parker, a 23-year-old father-to-be. Mr. Parker was fatally hit on Hucknall Road in Carrington just before 23:00 GMT on Wednesday. Taufeeq Ahmed, also 23, faces charges including causing death by dangerous driving, along with multiple additional offences. According to a tribute issued by police on Monday, Mr. Parker’s family disclosed that he had been anticipating the birth of a daughter in early 2025. Mr. Parker’s brother provided a statement, saying: “Cain Parker, known to those that loved him as Kenny Fitzpatrick, tragically had his life taken on his way home from work on 6 November 2024.” “It was me and you against the world Kenny and no matter what I would protect you, I’m so sorry I couldn’t protect you this time.” “Kenny wasn’t just a brother to me, he had a total of four sisters and 10 brothers. He was a son whose mum is distraught – it’s torn her world apart losing him so young.” “He was an uncle to many and a friend and was also expecting a daughter in early 2025.” “Everything Kenny did in the last few months of his life was for his daughter, he was devoted to making himself a better life for his baby girl.” Nottinghamshire Police indicated that Mr. Ahmed, who resides in Bestwood, Nottingham, has also been charged with additional offences including driving while unfit through drugs, driving without insurance, possession of cannabis, and dishonestly failing to disclose information. His court appearance is scheduled for a future date. Law enforcement officials reported that two other individuals, aged 21 and 27, were apprehended on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and have since been released on bail.
