Lincolnshire Police has initiated a referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) subsequent to a police vehicle striking a teenage male in Lincoln. The event took place at 13:45 GMT on 4 November, specifically at the pedestrian crossing situated on Broadgate, close to Silver Street. A statement from Lincolnshire Police indicated that it had “referred the incident to the IOPC, as is usual in these circumstances”. The IOPC stated its intention to evaluate the situation to ascertain if an investigation would be necessary. The police force reported that the marked police vehicle was proceeding northbound in the outer lane, en route to an urgent call, when it struck the boy. The 16-year-old individual sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital. The police officer involved in the incident did not suffer serious injuries and consequently did not require hospitalisation. Lincolnshire Police issued an appeal requesting any video evidence or information pertinent to the occurrence.
