A police force has made a self-referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) after a traffic collision, which occurred following a police pursuit, resulted in injuries to four individuals. Law enforcement officers had responded to reports of knives being sighted at a property in the village of Althorne, Essex, at approximately 13:10 GMT on Tuesday, where two suspects subsequently departed the location in a car. Officers pursued this vehicle until it was involved in a collision with a van on the northbound carriageway of the A130 around 13:50. According to Essex Police, two occupants from each vehicle sustained injuries and were transported to a hospital. The police force further indicated that none of the injuries suffered by individuals in either the van or the car were considered to be life-threatening. The driver and a passenger from the car were apprehended on suspicion of committing aggravated burglary. Chief Superintendent Scott Egerton stated: “We are in regular contact with all those involved in this incident and our investigation is continuing at pace.” He added: “As we would with any incident of this nature, we have made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.” Post navigation Man in 80s Dies After Car Hits Tree in Devon Three arrested following assault during Rugby disorder
