A police force has allocated a £50,000 donation to local charities during the Christmas period, with the funds originating from the proceeds of confiscated property. Cheshire Constabulary confirmed that Youth Fed, a charity dedicated to offering employment and further education prospects to disadvantaged young individuals, received one of the cheques, valued at £6,700. This charity also organizes activities for children and young people in Cheshire, with the goal of deterring them from criminal activities. The Constabulary stated that the funds, distributed among six distinct charities, were recovered under the Police Property Act through the sale of unclaimed property previously seized by its officers. Chief Constable Mark Roberts commented: “[Youth Fed’s] work helps our officers. He added: “By providing activities to the children and young people of Cheshire, they are given an alternative to embracing crime – whether low-level anti-social behaviour or something more serious.”” Kevin Bradburn, Youth Fed’s director of operations, stated: “This funding will play a vital role in supporting young people across our region, enabling us to deliver impactful programmes that empower them to overcome challenges, develop essential skills, and make positive life choices.”He added: “By providing opportunities and support, we can help reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, creating safer communities for everyone.” For more content, BBC Radio Merseyside is available on Sounds, and updates can be followed on BBC Merseyside’s Facebook, X, and Instagram platforms.
