Law enforcement officials in Inverness have confiscated an electric scooter that was modified with an attached exercise bike, following its observation in use within the city. Police Scotland confirmed the incident and the vehicle’s unique modification through a social media post, stating: “Yes, that is an exercise bike welded to it. Rider reported, vehicle seized.” The police force had previously issued warnings regarding the operation of e-scooters. Despite being legally available for purchase, their use on public roads and pavements is prohibited by law. According to Police Scotland, the sole permissible location for operating a privately owned e-scooter is on private property, provided the landowner’s consent has been obtained.
