Law enforcement officials have confirmed that a fire at a former newspaper office in Galashiels was deliberately ignited. Approximately 20 firefighters responded to the incident at the premises formerly occupied by the Border Telegraph, following the alarm being raised shortly after 18:30 on Sunday. Investigations are currently underway, but a statement released by Police Scotland specified that the event is being handled as “wilful,” and they have called for witnesses to come forward. The High Street property has stood vacant for more than ten years.
