An eight-month period of roadworks is scheduled to commence in Pocklington town centre starting in January. The East Riding of Yorkshire Council announced an investment of £1.2 million for a series of improvements, including the resurfacing of roads and paths within the town centre. These works will encompass Union Street, West Green, Market Square, and Market Place, with plans to establish a new pedestrian zone surrounding the Jubilee monument. Concurrently, a new bus service is set to be introduced in December, offering residents of Fridaythorpe and Millington transportation to Pocklington on market days. This service, operated by York Pullman, will operate exclusively on Tuesdays. The council is implementing this service utilizing government funding received from the Department for Transport, allocated for enhancements to bus services. The council confirmed that no resurfacing activities would occur in Market Square or Market Place on Tuesdays, ensuring the regular operation of the market. Councillor Paul West, the council’s cabinet member for environment and transport, stated: “This is significant investment which will refresh the roads and paths in the town centre for the benefit of residents, businesses and visitors.“We have tried to keep disruption to a minimum and I want to thank people for bearing with us while we carry out this scheme.” Post navigation West Sussex Man’s Extreme Day Trip Group Gains Significant Following Businesses Invited to Share Views on M54/M6 Link Amid Transport Spending Review
