Plympton Residents Evacuated Following Suspected Gun Shell Discovery, Item Later Deemed Safe

Residents were evacuated from their homes and roads were closed after the discovery of a suspected gun shell. Police reported that the alert was initiated at approximately 12:20 GMT, following the object’s detection at a property situated in Grantham Close, Plympton. A Royal Navy explosive ordnance disposal team conducted an inspection and subsequently “deemed the item safe,” as stated by the Devon and Cornwall force. The road closures have since been lifted, and residents have been able to return to their homes.
