The individual fatally stabbed in Plymouth has been identified by police, as detectives announce an additional arrest in the ongoing investigation. Law enforcement officials were dispatched to reports of a stabbing on Cambridge Road in the Ford area of the city on Monday, around 14:30 GMT. Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed that Shane Jamie Sweet, 36, from Plymouth, died at the scene. Authorities reported the arrest of a 42-year-old woman on suspicion of assisting an offender, following the earlier apprehension of a 42-year-old man on suspicion of murder. Both remain in police custody. Police also stated that three women, aged 27, 38, and 40, previously arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder, have been released under investigation. All those taken into custody are believed to be Plymouth residents and known to the victim. Det Ch Insp Steve Fleetwood, the senior investigating officer, stated: “I would like to continue reassuring the public that all relevant resources including Devon and Cornwall’s Major Crime Team are working towards bringing those responsible for Shane’s death to justice.” He further added: “We continue to urge anyone with information which may assist our investigation, to please report it to us.”
