A procession of caravans, laden with 400 Christmas gifts, is setting off from Plymouth en route to Ukraine. The presents were donated by individuals residing in the city and beyond, a collective effort that organiser Andy Evangelou characterized as “humbling.” Makysm Litvinov, a Ukrainian national living in Plymouth, stated, “It’s the third year of the war and a lot of children have lost their childhoods in these very difficult days.” He further added, “We are trying to do something for their happiness.” Beyond the gifts, the convoy is also transporting medical aid, encompassing surgical supplies, a dialysis machine, and an ultrasound machine. The organization utilizes caravans to convey these provisions, which are then repurposed as homes for displaced persons or as shelters for soldiers. On this particular journey, they intend to leave three caravans in Ukraine. The drive to Ukraine is estimated to take between four and five days.
