A road junction identified as an accident blackspot has been shut down following a third fatal collision within the past six months. The closure occurred after a woman in her 80s passed away on Thursday on the westbound carriageway at the Plusha junction, situated near Launceston. In response, National Highways, the police, and Cornwall Council promptly implemented an emergency order to close the junction, reduce the speed limit, and limit right-turn traffic maneuvers. Management had previously disclosed intentions to enhance the junction’s safety in September. Ed Halford, who serves as National Highways route manager, stated that driver safety constitutes “our number one priority.” He further mentioned that in September, they revealed proposals to implement “safety measures along the A30 between Kennards House and Five Lanes.” He added, “As part of the safety package, we’ve been liaising closely with our police and local authority partners to identify a number of interventions aimed at improving safety and reducing the number of incidents.” Ben Maguire, the Member of Parliament for north Cornwall, asserted that a “safer solution must be found.” He commented: “Enough is enough. There has been a record of failure for too long on this issue, and now, more than ever, we need to come together to solve this accident blackspot.” He continued, “We need a graded junction, and we need to get everyone around the table to find a long-term solution.” Adrian Parsons, the councillor representing Altarnun and Stoke Climsland, indicated that “immediate changes” were set to be implemented and urged individuals to “please take care out there and drive safely.” Post navigation Jaguar Calls for Trust and Patience Regarding Brand Reimagining Dorset Road Closure After Fatal Horse Collision
