Travelers have voiced objections to proposals to substitute the complimentary upstairs viewing area at Jersey Airport with a “premium lounge” that will require payment. Ports of Jersey announced that this new facility, managed by No1 Lounges, is scheduled to launch next year, offering visitors “panoramic sea views, exceptional hospitality and seasonal hot dishes”. Individuals traveling through the airport have conveyed their dismay regarding the removal of the current viewing deck, a location favored by families, and have raised doubts about the necessity of a “premium lounge” at Jersey Airport. Airport authorities indicated that an “alternative quiet space” would also be made available for passengers’ free use, integrated into the broader redevelopment initiatives at the airport. Sam Hirst, a father of three, characterized the alteration as an “absolute shame”. He stated that the existing lounge served as “a great space” for families with young children, allowing them room to move freely, particularly during flight delays. An unnamed parent mentioned her frequent use of the present viewing zone as an area for her infant to “play, feed and nap away from the hustle and bustle and judgement of others”. She referred to the space as a “safe haven when travelling alone” and labeled the modifications “unaffordable for normal people”. Traveler Colin Pallot stated that he had utilized private lounges at Gatwick but questioned the necessity for one in Jersey, considering the typical duration people spend at the airport. He remarked, “I really don’t think this concept would work at Jersey airport unless there are significant delays for a flight.” He proposed that the area would be more effectively employed as a “family friendly space”, such as a children’s play area. Ports of Jersey indicated that travelers could gain entry to the lounge via airline frequent flyer programs, certain credit card schemes, or by paying for access on the day, with pricing details still pending release. Matt Thomas, the chief executive of Ports of Jersey, expressed his pleasure at the opportunity to offer a “stylish sanctuary from the busy terminal”. He affirmed that the new lounge is intended to deliver “a memorable experience for every guest, and a relaxing environment to unwind before flying”. A representative for Ports of Jersey stated that the requirements of all travelers would be taken into account during the airport’s development plans. They commented, “As we redevelop the airport terminal in the coming years, we’ll be opening more space for passengers to view the airfield.” Post navigation A27 Reopens Following Road Incidents and Oil Spill Westbound A38 Lane in Bristol to Reopen Before Christmas
