Approval has been granted for proposals to transform the Nottingham premises that once housed a Robin Hood attraction into a gymnasium. This initiative involves establishing a multi-million pound “supergym” on the ground level of the property located on Maid Marian Way, with office spaces situated on the upper floors. The premises have remained mostly vacant since the Tales of Robin Hood ceased operations in 2008 and officially declared bankruptcy in the subsequent year. The proponents of these plans had previously indicated an aspiration to launch the gym during the second quarter of 2025. Luke Willmott and Ray Brewin, who are the owner and co-director of Castle Gym, respectively, submitted these plans. Castle Gym operated from Castle Boulevard until its building was divested in 2022. According to planning documentation, the proposed change of use will not alter the exterior appearance of the structure. On prior occasions, three separate applications for converting the property into a gym had received approval, yet none of these proposals were ever implemented. A small supermarket commenced operations in a section of the building soon after the attraction ceased functioning.
