Peterborough City Council has initiated emergency measures to provide support for rough sleepers due to the prevailing cold weather conditions. The council officially implemented its severe weather emergency provision on Tuesday, ensuring that registered rough sleepers will be offered accommodation. This provision is scheduled to remain in effect until November 23rd initially, though the authority stated that its continuation would be reviewed on a daily basis. The council advised that individuals sleeping rough who lack access to a phone can visit New Haven on Towler Street to access the available support. Additionally, the council noted that its outreach team would “continue to look for and reach out to rough sleepers at various times of the day and night”.
