A woman has died following a road crash in North Lanarkshire. The 41-year-old pedestrian was hit by a silver Ford Fiesta in the Crossgates area of Bellshill at approximately 21:30 on Friday. Emergency services attended the scene, and she was pronounced dead shortly afterwards. A 36-year-old man, who was driving the car, was arrested in connection with road traffic offences and was later released pending further inquiries. The road was closed to traffic and subsequently reopened at about 04:00 on Saturday. Sgt Andrew Coutts said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who died and inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.” He requested that anyone who could assist with the investigation get in touch.
