Parkrun events have been called off following postponements in scheduled work at a park in Hull. The renovation of footpaths within East Park, located in the city, was initially slated to commence on October 7 and projected to take four weeks to complete. Nevertheless, Hull City Council stated that the project’s start was postponed “due to supplier issues.” A spokesperson for the council commented, “The council is working with the supplier to resume the works as soon as possible and will provide a new completion date as soon as possible.” The spokesperson added, “We sympathise with parkrun and their runners, and understand the inconvenience caused by the delay.” The Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) reported that the runs will remain suspended until the new year. A representative for Hull parkrun informed the LDRS that they are “working on an alternative course that, hopefully, we will be able to put into place pretty soon.” They further confirmed that events are planned to proceed during the Christmas period.
