Burnley, managed by Scott Parker, extended their goalless streak to three matches after a nil-nil draw against West Brom on Thursday evening. Following the game, Parker expressed his conviction that his team had a valid goal incorrectly disallowed. The incident in question involved Jaidon Anthony’s header in the 55th minute, which referee Tom Nield disallowed, citing a push on Callum Styles of Albion. “It’s a goal, there’s no two ways about it, the referee’s given it from a big distance and the linesman hasn’t given it,” Parker stated in an interview with BBC Radio Lancashire. He further commented, “It’s a legit goal – I don’t really want to get into that but obviously it’s disappointing regarding that decision.” This result means Burnley has secured only two victories in their last eight Championship fixtures, accumulating five draws, which has led to them falling four points adrift of the automatic promotion spots. Despite the outcome, Parker added, “Overall it was a very good performance from us and we’re starting to see signs of the kind of team we want to be.” He concluded by saying, “We’ve had a goal disallowed, we’ve hit the post, we’ve had a big chance in the first-half so overall I’m really pleased with where the team are going.”
