Burnley head coach Scott Parker, who has secured eight victories in his initial 16 Championship fixtures at the helm, expressed his conviction that the club’s supporters constitute its ‘bedrock’ in anticipation of Tuesday’s Championship encounter with Coventry City. Parker’s team currently occupies fourth position in the Championship standings, trailing the automatic promotion spots by merely two points. Parker has dedicated efforts to underscore the significance of the club’s fanbase to his squad members. He informed BBC Radio Lancashire: “I often say it to the players at 3pm or 7:45, whatever time that game is, we walk out and cross that line with one sole purpose and that’s to try and please our fans.” Parker further remarked: “Football gravitates to everyone – it connects people, it brings people together and I understand with every single bit of it what it means to every fan base.” This sentiment follows the attendance of over 1,400 Burnley supporters at the Clarets’ 1-0 triumph over Bristol City on Saturday, a match that marked their 10th clean sheet of the Championship season to date. He elaborated, stating: “I understand what it means to every single Burnley fan, the local people, they’re the bedrock of this club.” Parker concluded by emphasizing: “They’re the mainstays. Managers come and go, players come and go, what always stays and what is always consistent is a fan base.”
