Paignton Zoo believes missing flamingo chick may be deceased

Personnel at a zoo now suspect that a flamingo chick, which had gone missing, may no longer be alive. Paignton Zoo had launched a public appeal on Sunday to assist in locating the chick. Members of the local community had provided help, and the zoo confirmed that its staff had been following “well-rehearsed procedures.” The zoo reported that there have been no further sightings, stating, “given the time that has passed and the circumstances, we now believe that the chick may no longer be alive.” In a statement, the zoo expressed that it would “like to extend its heartfelt thanks to everyone in the community for their support and assistance during this time.” It also confirmed that all other flamingos and their chicks are accounted for, adding that they are “taking additional measures to ensure that this does not happen again.”
