Eight community projects located in the East of England are set to receive more than £3.5 million in financial support. This funding is provided as part of the government’s Plan for Change initiative. Sports clubs and various community initiatives across Buckinghamshire, Essex, Suffolk, and Northamptonshire are among 85 beneficiaries throughout the UK. Jenifer Cameron, chief executive of Action4Youth, a charity based in Milton Keynes that secured £300,000 for renovations, indicated that this would empower the charity to “support many more young people in the future”. The government stated that the funds aim to stimulate local economies, promote “national renewal,” and revive community pride by fostering togetherness. Action4Youth has been granted £300,000 for the refurbishment of the George Amey Centre in Milton Keynes. This facility is intended for use as a hub for outdoor education and to bolster the charity’s efforts in addressing knife and gang crime. Ms Cameron, representing the charity, commented: “We are so grateful to have funding which will enable us to complete our renovation project and to ensure the future of the outdoor centre which benefits 15,000 children and young people each year.” Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner remarked: “These projects represent what is so special about communities across the UK – bringing people of all ages together, providing vital support and giving them a sense of purpose and belonging.” For updates on East of England news, follow BBC Beds, Herts & Bucks, BBC Cambridgeshire, BBC Essex, BBC Norfolk, BBC Northamptonshire, or BBC Suffolk on X, Instagram, and Facebook.
