A Wetherspoon establishment, housed within its Grade II listed structure, is once more getting ready to stage an opera. The performance of Die Fledermaus is scheduled to take place at the Opera House in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, on February 16. Opened in 1902, the venue was initially erected with the purpose of serving as an opera house. For the last two decades, the pub has been a site for such performances. The location transitioned into a cinema in 1931, subsequently becoming a bingo hall approximately 40 years thereafter, prior to its conversion into a pub in 1996. The Merry Opera Company is set to present Die Fledermaus at two times: 14:00 GMT and 19:30. This occasion will mark the 15th consecutive year that the company has staged performances at this particular pub. Additionally, the Chiddingstone-based company is presenting the production in London, Surrey, and Norfolk. For updates, follow BBC Kent on Facebook, X, and Instagram.
