An open evening has been announced for individuals considering a nursing career, focusing on the educational pathways available on the Isle of Man. Scheduled for 5 December, from 18:00 to 20:00 GMT, the event targets prospective students interested in pursuing degrees in adult or mental health nursing. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with nursing lecturers and current students from the Keyll Darree higher education centre, located at Noble’s hospital. Niall Quayle, a senior lecturer of nursing, highlighted that student nurses on the island benefit from fully covered university fees, totaling £9,250 annually, in addition to a yearly bursary of £10,000. The Isle of Man’s bachelor of nursing programme commenced in October 2024, and applications for the intake scheduled for September 2025 are currently being processed until February. Prospective attendees are required to register beforehand and are encouraged to bring family members. The Bachelor in Nursing degree is primarily conducted at Keyll Darree, situated on the Noble’s Hospital site, and is delivered in collaboration with University College Isle of Man. Mr. Quayle indicated that the event will provide attendees with an opportunity to discuss the programme, receive answers to their questions, and gain insight into the curriculum and available facilities. He further stated that the three-year qualification presents a “fantastic opportunity” for local study.
