Cardiff City is set to face Stoke City on Saturday (15:00 GMT), with manager Omer Riza contemplating alterations to his starting lineup and potentially his tactical formation. This comes in the wake of their dismal home defeat against Preston North End. The Bluebirds delivered what was arguably their most disheartening performance of a turbulent campaign when they lost to a Preston side that had not secured an away victory throughout the entire season until Wednesday night. Cardiff has now endured a run of six games without a win. Their form has seen a significant decline following an initial improvement after Riza assumed management in September, succeeding Erol Bulut. “The drop-off has been coming over three or four games,” Riza stated. “I think the first block [of games] really caught up with the players. They had to knuckle down to get back to where they got to.” He further explained, “Now we have had a few injuries which haven’t helped, but the performances need to be better. It might force my hand in respect of the way we play system-wise. Maybe I’ll tweak that.” Riza concluded, “I will always want to be on the front foot and want to attack, but there will be a few tweaks and a few things we need to discuss.” Cardiff will travel to Stoke having avoided defeat in their last two away matches, although they are yet to secure an away win this season. Stoke City, also known as the Potters, are under similar pressure to achieve a positive result, having suffered three consecutive losses and failing to win any of their last six games.
