Norwich International Airport has reported a substantial increase in passenger traffic, with numbers climbing by almost a quarter after new routes to European locations were introduced. According to airport management, 316,000 travelers departed from the facility between April and October of the current year, marking a 23% growth compared to the corresponding timeframe in 2023. The airport further stated that 63,000 individuals utilized the new Ryanair services to Alicante, Faro, and Malta since April, exceeding the budget airline’s initial projection of 60,000 passengers. Richard Pace, the airport’s managing director, commented: “We’re looking forward to a busy 2025 and continuing to offer passengers great choice with the ease and convenience of flying from their local airport.” Ryanair has opted to extend its flight operations to Alicante through the winter season, lasting until March 2025. Situated approximately 2.5 miles (4km) north of the city centre, the airport possesses an annual handling capacity of 1.2 million passengers. In August, Mr. Pace indicated that operations were currently just below 500,000 passengers. Earlier in the current year, a national consumer survey recognized it as one of the top three airports in the UK for customer service.
