Supporters of Norwich City FC have been called upon by a local food bank to bring tinned goods with them to their next game. This appeal comes from Nourishing Norfolk, an initiative established by the Norfolk Community Foundation, which states its food banks provide meals for over 35,000 individuals within the county. Delia Smith, a restaurant owner and honorary life president of Norwich City, has offered her restaurant as one of the collection points for donations on the day of the home fixture against Burnley. Sophie Berry, the corporate giving manager from the foundation, remarked that the TV chef’s commitment to supplying quality food for local people was “infectious”. The request for long-life nutritious food items specifically included products such as tins of fruit, vegetables, and baked beans. “Just one tin can really make a difference,” stated Ms Berry. Nourishing Norfolk operates 26 food hubs across the county. According to the charity, these facilities enable shoppers to save approximately 50% off their average weekly grocery bill. Volunteers also offer assistance in various areas, including helping people find employment, providing advice on debt, and offering domestic violence support. Fans will be able to make their contributions at Carrow Road between 11:00 GMT and 15:00, at the Anglian Home Improvements vehicles located near the Gunn Club and Delia’s Restaurant entrances. Anglian Home Improvements, one of the club’s sponsors, indicated that individuals not attending the match could donate at The Nest in Holt Road, Horsford.
