A poetry trail is being established in North East Lincolnshire with the aim of celebrating the region and its inhabitants. The initiative, named “Love Your Town: Words on the Way,” is promoted as “a celebration of love for our communities” and will be featured in Grimsby, Cleethorpes, and Immingham. It is scheduled to run from February 8 to February 22, showcasing a series of poems at various retailers within the three towns. The project, a collaborative venture between North East Lincolnshire Council and the Grimsby-based organization Red Sail, is currently seeking entries from aspiring local poets for potential inclusion. Alex and Sam from Red Sail commented: “We strongly believe that there is a poet in all of us.” They continued, “There’s no greater inspiration for words than the love for our local communities, and [our area] has community pride in abundance.” They further stated, “This project will offer a much-needed opportunity for people to pause, reflect, and celebrate the community bonds that unite us all.” Themes for submissions include honoring community spirit, local landmarks or traditions, and personal narratives. Poems can be submitted online. Organizers also mentioned a potential chance for individuals to have their poetry exhibited even after the event concludes.
