People residing in North East Lincolnshire are being encouraged to contribute their views on the council’s upcoming financial expenditure plans. North East Lincolnshire Council is currently developing its budget for the next fiscal year and is urging residents to participate in this process. The authority stated its aim to invest in enhancing opportunities for both individuals and businesses, while simultaneously maintaining essential services such as road maintenance and waste collection. The public consultation period is scheduled to run from 18 November until 13 January. Residents will have the opportunity to submit their opinions via the council’s official website. Councillor Stephen Harness commented: “Here in North East Lincolnshire, we are determined to work together with partners to build a strong future. “By looking at different ways to invest in our people and continuing with our economic regeneration, we can work towards achieving this.” The council acknowledged the financial pressures it is experiencing, following an increase in social care costs to 66% of its total budget, a rise from 43% a decade ago. Harness indicated that the authority was examining how it could “work differently” to address this issue. This includes a “transformation” of children’s services and initiatives designed to assist adults in living independently.
