British men’s number two, Cameron Norrie, has secured a spot in his 25th tour-level semi-final. This achievement marks his first semi-final appearance at a hard-court event since January 2023, signaling a strong conclusion to what has been an injury-affected season, as he advanced at the Moselle Open. The 29-year-old athlete progressed to the final four by defeating Belgium’s Zizou Bergs in a match that ended 6-3, 6-7 (6-8), 6-1. This marks only the third ATP tournament for the former world number eight since July, following a forearm injury that prevented his participation in the US Open. Despite missing two match points during the second set tie-break, Norrie regained control and decisively won the final set against Bergs, who is ranked 61st. Norrie, whose ranking has fallen to 57th, commented, “I should have had the tie-breaker in the second set but he played quicker than me and took a bit more risk.” He added, “I was not happy but I managed to reset.” Norrie concluded, “He’s a good player and had a really good year so it’s a really great win for me.” Norrie is scheduled to face France’s Corentin Moutet in the semi-finals on Friday, approximately at 14:30 GMT. Moutet, currently ranked 66th, progressed after the withdrawal of Russian top seed Andrey Rublev, who had already secured his spot in the end-of-season ATP Finals scheduled for next week.
