An instrument that Noel Gallagher once called “the best in the world” achieved a sale price exceeding £226,000. Gallagher utilized this custom Silver Sparkle Gibson Les Paul Florentine guitar during the recording of Oasis’s third album, Be Here Now, which debuted in August 1997. Auctioneers Propstore offered the item for sale, having set an estimated value ranging from £200,000 to £400,000. According to Propstore, this guitar was among Gallagher’s main instruments from his time with Oasis and is thought to be the one he used most frequently throughout that period of his career. Crafted specifically for Gallagher at Gibson’s custom shop in 1997, the guitar featured in performances on The David Letterman Show and Saturday Night Live, as well as in the BBC documentary Oasis: Right Here, Right Now. The instrument, ultimately selling for £226,800, was part of a collection of items available at Propstore’s four-day memorabilia auction, where a tambourine previously used by Gallagher’s brother and bandmate, Liam, also sold for £6,300. The Gallagher brothers, natives of Burnage, Manchester, confirmed earlier this year their plans to reunite for an Oasis tour in 2025, with tickets for their UK and Ireland dates rapidly selling out.
