The prohibition on visits to two hospital wards, which were previously impacted by a norovirus outbreak, has now been lifted. Manx Care had implemented a suspension of visiting privileges for wards six and eight at Noble’s Hospital last week, following a “significant increase” in reported cases. Despite this change, the healthcare service maintains its advice for individuals experiencing symptoms like diarrhoea and vomiting to remain at home. It is directing the public to the government’s website for public health guidance concerning the virus. Additionally, hospital visitors are still being asked to “wash their hands with soap and water frequently”. Norovirus, also known as the “winter vomiting bug,” typically lasts for about two days. The Isle of Man’s public health directorate recently provided advice on measures people can take to protect themselves from the spread of winter illnesses.
