With only three teams having conceded more goals in League Two so far this season, Newport County has confirmed the appointment of Rob Thomas as the club’s new head of goalkeeping. For the last 15 years, Thomas held the position of National Goalkeeper Coach Education Coordinator at the Football Association of Wales (FAW) Trust. He will now join Nelson Jardim’s backroom staff at Rodney Parade. Thomas takes over from Jim Hollman, the former goalkeeping coach, who departed the club recently by mutual agreement following a six-year tenure. In an official club statement, it was conveyed: “Newport County would like to extend its gratitude to Jim for his contribution over the years and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.” Prior to this role, Thomas spent the last two seasons with Cymru Premier team Haverfordwest County.
