Newcastle United defender Dan Burn stated that his teammate Sandro Tonali’s “real composure” renders him well-suited for the somewhat deeper midfield position he played in during Wednesday’s Carabao Cup quarter-final victory against Brentford. The 24-year-old Italy international, Tonali, netted the first two goals in the 3-1 win and exerted control over the midfield for significant durations, delivering a notable performance. Manager Eddie Howe commented that Newcastle is finally “starting to see the best” from their £55m acquisition, who rejoined the team this season following a 10-month suspension for violating betting regulations. “He [Tonali] is great – he’s just so calm,” Burn informed BBC Radio Newcastle. “He’s one of those players who never seems to get too excited or too down. He’s got that real composure about him. “I think you can see his quality – one-touch passing, he’s always looking to go forward and he does a great job defensively. “It is great for me when you have got someone in there who can take on the information you give him from a defensive standpoint. I think he has does a great job with that.”” With the Carabao Cup final scheduled for March, marking 70 years since the Magpies last secured a domestic trophy, Burn expressed confidence that his team possesses the capability to reach another major final, having been defeated by Manchester United in the 2023 final. “It’s something to look forward to,” he stated. “We have got a lot of games until then but we fancy ourselves over two legs against anyone so we will see who we get.” Post navigation Acclaimed Racing Journalist Alastair Down Dies, Tributes Offered Aldershot Town Aims for FA Cup Upset Against Bradford City
