The Highland Council has announced that construction work on a new school campus in Tain, located in Easter Ross, is currently running six months behind its projected schedule. While originally anticipated for completion next month, contractors are now not expected to finalize the £45 million project until June of next year. This revised timeline indicates that staff and pupils would begin classes in the new facility at the commencement of the subsequent academic year, in August. The Highland Council stated its ongoing commitment to monitoring the project’s progress, with a specific emphasis on maintaining quality standards. Councillors had granted full planning permission for the campus, designed for three to 18-year-olds, in April 2022. The forthcoming Tain Community Campus is set to replace Tain Royal Academy, Craighill Primary, Knockbreck Primary, and St Duthus School – which provides support for pupils with severe, complex, and profound additional support needs – by consolidating them onto a single site. A proposal to establish a campus in Tain was initially approved by Highland councillors in 2015. Copyright 2024 BBC. All rights reserved. The BBC is not accountable for the content of external sites.
