The introduction of two new community minibus services has taken place in east Hull. One of these, the Marfleet Community Minibus Service, provides transportation for individuals to shops and medical appointments. The other, a medibus service, conveys patients to Castle Hill Hospital. East Hull Community Transport (EHCT) has been selected to operate both services as pilot programs, which are scheduled to run until the conclusion of March 2025. Rob Foster, who serves as CEO at EHCT, commented that the medibus is anticipated to “provide an essential passenger transport service.” The Marfleet service operates on a fixed timetable, running twice daily on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The medibus runs from Monday to Friday, between 07:00 and 17:00 GMT, and requires advance booking by contacting EHCT. Fares for both services commence at £2.50. The city council indicated that the continued operation of these buses beyond next year is dependent on sufficient demand for the services, which would then qualify them for further funding from the government’s Bus Service Improvement Plan.
