Neglected Dog Found Abandoned in Box After ‘Abject Cruelty’

Rescuers have reported the discovery of a dog, abandoned in a box, after being subjected to “abject cruelty.” On Thursday, the Swale Borough Council Stray Dog Service stated that eight-year-old Birdie was found inside a box on Breach Lane in Upchurch. A spokesperson for the service indicated that a vet, observing Birdie’s rotten teeth and flea infestation, gave her a score of one out of nine on a body condition scale. Inquiries into Birdie’s situation are currently in progress, and she is receiving care from Happy Endings Rescue. The service also mentioned that a biopsy would be conducted to eliminate aggressive forms of cancer as the cause of her face injuries.
