A man has been apprehended on suspicion of murder after another individual, who was assaulted inside a house, died days later in hospital. Greater Manchester Police reported that a 44-year-old man passed away on Tuesday, having sustained serious injuries on Irvine Avenue in Boothstown, Salford, around 20:15 GMT on Sunday. A 22-year-old man is currently being questioned in police custody. Detectives are appealing for anyone who was in the vicinity of Irvine Avenue, Leigh Road, or Simpson Road on Sunday and possesses relevant information to come forward. Det Ch Insp Mark Davis offered his condolences, stating: “Our deepest condolences are with the victim’s family who have sadly lost a loved one and we are continuing to support them at this time.” He also indicated that residents in Boothstown would “see an increased visibility of officers in the area” as the investigation continues. “We would like to reassure people that we do not believe there is any wider threat to the community,” he added.
