Drivers encountered extensive hold-ups on a motorway subsequent to a collision involving two heavy goods vehicles. A single lane remained inaccessible for multiple hours on the M5 southbound, specifically between junction 11 (Gloucester/GoldenValley Bypass) and junction 11A (Gloucester/Cirencester). According to the traffic monitoring service INRIX, tailbacks extended nearly to junction nine at Tewkesbury, though this congestion has since dissipated. National Highways verified that all lanes are now operational again. There were no reports of injuries, and no arrests were carried out. A spokesperson for the police stated that officers were summoned to the scene around 06:05 GMT. The spokesperson further explained, “One of the vehicles shed its load during the collision causing two lanes to be shut while debris was cleared from the carriageway.” National Highways clarified that traffic had been halted for a period prior to this. A lane had stayed shut for clean-up and vehicle recovery operations, but it has since been reopened.
