Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell has spoken to the media in advance of his team’s League Cup semi-final clash against Rangers at Hampden this weekend. Key points from his address include the confirmation that Stephen O’Donnell will be unavailable due to a leg muscle injury, while Liam Gordon and Tony Watt are set to return to the squad. With O’Donnell and Paul McGinn absent, Lennon Miller, aged 18, will captain the side. Kettlewell remarked that the teenager’s “level of performance” serves as an inspiration to others. The Fir Park boss indicated that he does not believe Rangers’ current difficulties provide his side with a greater advantage, still considering the Ibrox team as “massive favourites” and stating that “it will be a huge upset” if Motherwell secures a victory. Kettlewell asserted that Motherwell has demonstrated resilience during their recent period of good form, and they will approach this tie with their usual confidence. He mentioned that the build-up to this specific game is not dissimilar to other matches, but conceded that as a one-off fixture, they will need to generate opportunities. Kettlewell expressed his delight at the community’s strong support for the semi-final, noting that 8,000 Motherwell tickets have been sold. The manager added that it is evident throughout the town that everyone is “excited” for the match.
