Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell has described the decision to dismiss Dan Casey during the club’s 1-1 draw against Kilmarnock on Friday night as “the worst” refereeing he has witnessed. Following Casey’s sending off at the weekend, the Fir Park club has lodged a wrongful dismissal claim with the Scottish FA, with the appeal hearing scheduled for Christmas Eve. The defender received a straight red card subsequent to an altercation with Killie’s Danny Armstrong. Referee Chris Graham maintained his initial ruling, even after being recommended to review the incident using the pitchside monitor. Kettlewell stated, “I’ve not spoken to one individual that sees that the same way as the outcome,” adding, “I don’t think we can ever see that, that scenario where it’s so cut and dry, in my opinion, and I know there’s an appeal to be heard and all the rest of it, but I just find it baffling.” He continued, “It’s genuinely the worst one that I’ve seen.” Kettlewell also emphasized the broader implications, stating, “But we have to look at this bigger picture as well, and it’s worldwide. That game was on the television. We’re trying to give the best account of ourselves as we possibly can.” Concluding his remarks, Kettlewell added, “We didn’t play particularly well as a team, but I don’t think that type of decision does the game in this country any favours whatsoever.” Post navigation Ben Stokes Requires Surgery for Hamstring Injury, Out for Three Months Kilmarnock and Aberdeen: Squad Availability Update
